Blue Bombers and Roughriders play in week 2 of CFL at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium. This will be the second game for Blue Bombers and their first home game, while it is the third game for Roughriders who lost to Redblacks by four points in their season opener.
Blue Bombers vs Roughriders Game Preview
Both teams played on the road last week. Blue Bombers lost to Eskimos by 11 points, while Roughriders lost to Redblacks by four points in Ottawa. The game can turn out very interesting since both teams will want their first victory of the season and it’s ‘roughest’ against ‘smoothest’.
Blue Bombers has a very strong offense but the defense must step up. For Roughriders, they have a strong ground game (with RB Jerome Messam who had 115 rushing yards last week). The defense was solid against Redblacks and will try to repeat this performance.
Blue Bombers and Roughriders met in week four last year. The game was won by Roughriders (thanks to an 18-point performance that included two TDs) and ended 38-33. This will be a very close game since both teams want the first victory of the season. Besides, it is ‘rough’ against ‘smooth’. Thus, it will be interesting to see what team wants the victory more.
While Roughriders are not an offensive powerhouse they have so far looked pretty solid on defense and should be able to contain Winnipeg’s potent offense – who struggled overall in week 1. Last season these two teams split their two meetings with each side winning at home.
